April social

Join us on a walk through New Mexico’s largest international grocer led by the owner, Victor Limary! Variety! Variety! is what Talin Market is known by its patrons! Hard to find items and choices of brands, sizes and flavors from which to choose from is what keeps its customers coming back!

You will learn how Talin came to be and how it has grown to be New Mexico’s largest international food market!

March luncheon

Saturday, March 10, 11:30 am, Hotel Eleganté
Dianne Layden is a writer and retired college professor in Albuquerque. She came to New Mexico in 1969 to complete her doctorate in American Studies. Her research led her to an interest in public monuments, particularly those that celebrate author Rudolfo Anaya. Anaya, of course, is the author of Bless Me, Utlima, first published in 1972. Last month saw the Albuquerque premier of this class tale, told as an opera. Dr. Layden’s topic will be the Bless Me, Ultima Landscape built in 2007 in Santa Rosa. As Santa Rosa is the setting for Anaya’s landmark work, it was fitting that this public monument is located there. Sculptures by renowned New Mexico artist Sonny Rivera are featured in the park. Ms. Layden will present an overview of the novel and show us photos of the entire monument.
